I LOVE THIS: THOMPKINS SQUARE PARK

thompkins square park by sarah adler

1. where in new york is this?
thompkins square park in alphabet city

2. what’s your favorite memory here?
it would be impossible to choose just one instance of note in thompkins, as I have had many memorable experiences here, but I’d say hanging around the dog park – whether with my dog, ee-mah, or just with friends in the days before having a pup of my own, watching animals interact is always a great backdrop to a beautiful day at the park.

3. when is the best time to go?
spring and summer are always best for walking outdoors but nothing is better than being outside on the warmer days of winter when the sky and the scenery is both dark and light.

4. if you could take anyone in the world here who would it be?
i take my dog almost every day but Ive also brought many friends for ice cream or pizza and an afternoon at thompkins, but I think it would be a great place for a picnic date with the right person.

I LOVE THIS: MOTO

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

For the past week our websites blog has been posting places and restaurants and such that they love in New York. I posted up DBGB which yes, is amazing, but I totally forgot how PERFECT the Brooklyn restaurant MOTO is. The live music is always loud but so much fun. My friend and I didn’t want to leave just kept the bottles of champagne coming. Don’t hesitate on the menu everything is perfect. I love MOTO.

BEST OF OAK SS 2010

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

Thus far…

As our house brand items start hitting stores, we on the staff have our favorites, of course. I know its early but just a few days ago we opened a box to find the most amazing infinity wrap. Part circle scarf, part wrap, part vest, part dress, even. Striped and soft, the fabric is perfect for layering while its still cold or accessorizing when it warms up because its not only comfortable but not too think and not too thin. You really have to see this one for yourself because photographs dont do it justice. Nevertheless, I introduce to you, the OAK Stripe Infinity Wrap:

DO IT YOURSELF: 160G MAGAZINE

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Every month the fashion print world – and thereby the online style world – finds itself knee deep in heaps of new editorials. This month, 160G Magazines Reed and Rader shot, Aki Maesato styled, animated collection really caught my eye. Mostly for its aesthetics involving animation, because honestly these are amazing, but who can deny the silhouettes and drapery of every all-black ensemble. So, without further ado, here is how Oaks wares can give you this first 360 degree look:

Kaylee Tankus Blazer / Kris Van Asche Blazer / Cheap Monday Jacket

Tops:

Bottoms:

OAK BLACK LABEL 2010 LOOKBOOK

Monday, February 1st, 2010

Released and featured on Nylon.com, the favorite magazine of many fashion forward all over the globe, our Spring Lookbook photos feature all of the drapery, insane fabrics, and sharp edges that Oak fans have come to love and covet. Nylon’s Liza Sokol writes:
We’ve got a crush on these pants.

Any designer would get slammed on the runway by Heidi and Tim for unfinished hems and frayed edges, but Oak’s Spring ’10 collection uses those features without looking disheveled. The line delivers a strong, athletic look which includes, dare we say it, mesh harem pants.

The look is bold, to say the least, and all about the mash of fabrics and “stolen from the boys” attitude. The black and white collection also includes a draped t-shirt dress, second-skin leggings, striped baggy pants, and crop tops galore.

Add some killer spike heels and you certainly won’t be mistaken for one of the guys.

And did we mention the mesh harem pants?

You know where to find us!
